September 17 - 18, 2009
In Moab we parked by a race track. It was just the other side of the fence we were facing. (to the left)
The sign said....Watch for Horses & People & Rabbits....The horses were on the other side of the fence.
We found a place to get ice cream.
Across the street from the ice cream was a thrift store where I found a sun hat.
Arches National Park is just a few miles from Moab and is my Favorite Park in Utah.
Our friend Ron Adamson
Outside there were realistic metal statues of birds and animals.
Inside displays give visitors a preview and good information on Arch formation.
There are interesting formations as soon as you start up the road into the park.
Traveling through the park we found markers to explain what we were seeing.
The visitor center is way down to the left. From on top of this rock you get a good view of the road up, and the Moab fault explained in the marker above. Anita, Hoyt, and Ron taking a picture.
We watched rock climbers..............................................1/3 of way down on picture above.
Hoyt and Ron talked to some bikers who were riding through the Park.
Balancing rocks abound.
As do places to walk and things to see.
We walked around the North and South Window Arches.
We hiked to where we could look across the canyon to Delicate Arch.
Hoyt pointing at Delicate Arch.................
We saw several Lizards........
John and his son Fred moved to Salt Wash in the late 1800's and lived there for a decade raising cattle and living in this 1 room cabin.... The basics of living in the desert.
About as much room as we have in our motor home.
