September 20, 2009

This park is smaller but rivals Arches and Canyonlands although on a smaller scale.

Continuing north we made a stop not far from Mt Shasta In Northern CA.   Old Station Post Office is conveniently located next to the office, motel, and cabins of Hat Creek Resort where friends from Yuma are working this summer.  There are even some Yerts and horse corals.

The Pacific Crest trail is behind the campground and hikers use the campground for showers and to pick up supplies and mail through the Post Office.

We did some sightseeing in the area.

It  was a pleasant hike to the bottom of the falls, across the creek and up and over the top of the falls and back to the parking lot. The shade in the canyon was welcome.
