April 10th to 17th of 2009
When we left Yuma we spent a week with snowbird friends, Ron & Anita Adamson, in Benson, AZ at Quarterhorse RV Park. We attended the Easter Service at San Pedro Valley UMC and fixed a joint Easter Dinner. We played cards and games in the evenings. We checked out the bookstores, quilt shop, bead shop, Wal Mart, and grocery store as well as a Mexican restaurant . The local Information Center was very helpful.
One day we drove to the Chiricahua Mountains and took a day hike. It was beautiful and we all enjoyed it.

FORT BOWIE National Historic Site
Old Fort Bowie was an interesting hike. Around 1 1/2 miles from the parking lot to the grounds and probably nearly that to walk around to read all the markers and see the old foundations. It was the same to finish the rest of the loop which started with a steep climb to the top of a ridge and than back to the parking lot. It was very windy climbing up on the ridge but it was well worth it for the view.

SQUARE DANCE EVENING
One evening the four of us drove to Sierra Vista where we went to a Square Dance. The group was having a Ho Bo Night. They made stew by throwing all kinds of canned vegetables in a pot together and than ate out of the cans. Some even dressed the part.
