Visiting Cindy & Eric on Levee Rd

April 28 to May 23,2013

After 6 months in Yuma we headed North.  We spent a little over 3 weeks with our daughter Cindy and her husband Eric at their new place near Dixon, CA.  Cindy met us as the road and we parked on the irrigation canal road behind her.  Cindy and Eric live in the place to the right with the porch on the living end and the carports and shop on the other end.  Three young men live in the house on the left and have three large dogs.  They look after the place and cats and horses while Cindy and Eric are away on http://www.r-vets.org/trips.  Eric is a veterinarian and Cindy a vet tech.   They do teaching trips for Vet students to under served populations.  A former playhouse is now used for wood storage.

There are a lot of barn swallows and they expect to see a variety of birds since their place is on the edge of a north south migration flight path.  The swallows helped  keep the mosquitoes  down.

Hoyt helped Eric with the tractor.  We worked on the fence for the horses, clearing the area and putting up a pole shed for them                        so they could be moved.

We also did some painting on Cindy’s porch.  Their bed is out there with mosquito netting. The cats love it.

We also helped with yard work and adjustments to the pond.  Hoyt did some plumbing and electrical work as well as the bus battery and car tow brake.  I helped Cindy a little with preparations for the R-Vets trip to the Dakotas.

Shortly after our arrival two little dogs were dropped off in the area and ended up at Cindy’s place.  In the end they became part

of the Davis family.   Eric and Cindy decided to make them part of the R-Vets team and got them used to the bus. They needed

some training but were anxious to please.  The names decided on were Jesus for the dark boy and Maria for the lighter female.

The dogs also needed baths.

Two chickens were brought to the place  after being attacked by a hawk as chicks.  The rooster ended up short one wing.  After 3 months the hen started laying small eggs.  They worked well for French toast.

I was also able to go to the annual Ring The Bell program. This year a variety of Bell groups played.  There was an opportunity to experience ringing the bells for anyone interested.  There was a bake sale and lunch was served as well.

enjoyed some good food.

We had plenty of food while in CA.  Eric and Cindy had a potluck housewarming so friends could see their place.  There was plenty

to eat and drink and it was a beautiful day.
